The Box V1.1 now with full LoRaWAN integration

The managed device to connect all equipment in all buildings, the Wattsense Box, has fully integrated the LoRaWAN gateway specification. A Low Power, Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology, LoRaWAN is created to wirelessly connect battery operated objects to the internet. The protocol targets critical Internet of Things (IoT) requirements such as bi-directional communication, end-to-end security, mobility, and localization services.

A growing number of industry players such as PropTech, Facility Management companies, and property owners are looking for an affordable and straightforward way to use LoRaWAN in large facilities, as well as small and medium-sized buildings, cue in the Wattsense service. For large commercial buildings, there’s a tremendous need to make operations and management more efficient. As for small multi-family housing projects, the simple installation, maintenance, and monitoring features are very appealing.

In our V1.0 of the Box, we were providing a USB LoRaWAN concentrator. However, our purpose has always been to offer users a universal building connector, a single package. For that reason, in this new version, the LoRaWAN hardware is directly embedded into the Box using a chip that serves as a gateway.

New technical features of the Box

• Supports the frequency bands EU868, US915, AU915, AS923, KR920, IN865 et RU864.
• Output power level up to 27 dBm.
• Supports 10 channels: 8 downlink channel,1 uplink channel, and 1 FSK channel.
• Hundreds of sensors connection capability.
• Option to use an external antenna with an extension cable.
