FAQ
What does the EPBD say about BACS in European tertiary buildings?
The installation or retrofit of Building Automation Control Systems (BACS) in tertiary buildings is mandatory to improve energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. In 2020, all European Union member states needed to transpose this directive into national legislation according to the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
Who needs to install a BMS or BACS?
According to the BACS directive, from January 2025, all non-residential tertiary buildings with a heating or air-conditioning system, or a combination of the two, with an effective rated output of more than 290 kW, must be fitted with a Building Management System (BMS).
How can I comply with the BACS decree using the Wattsense solution?
The Wattsense solution eliminates your connectivity problems, increases interoperability, and acts as an automation and control system in your building, whether the building equipment is new or old.
How does Wattsense ensure compatibility with my building's existing equipment?
The Wattsense solution supports more than ten communication protocols, making it compatible with a wide range of equipment and IoT sensors, whatever the brand. We have a growing library of over 900 pre-configured devices to simplify integration with our user console.
See our equipment libraryCan the Wattsense solution be installed in older buildings?
Yes, the Wattsense solution is designed to retrofit an existing building management system or update older equipment, allowing property owners to benefit from improved connectivity and energy management without replacing existing functional equipment.
